Russia Says Airstrikes Targeted Ukrainian Defense Facilities

(MENAFN) Russia's Defense Ministry said a recent wave of airstrikes targeted several Ukrainian defense-related facilities, including a production site belonging to Fire Point, a company that has been the subject of corruption allegations in Ukraine.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the strikes formed part of a broader operation against military-industrial infrastructure across Ukraine. In an uncommon move, Russian officials released details identifying specific facilities that were allegedly targeted during the attacks.

Among them was a Fire Point facility located in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Russian authorities claimed the site was involved in manufacturing components used in long-range drones and missile systems.

Fire Point originally operated in a different sector before becoming involved in defense production during the conflict. Reports have alleged that the company later secured substantial military contracts and became a prominent participant in Ukraine's expanding defense industry.

According to reports citing leaked recordings published by Ukrainian media, businessman Timur Mindich was linked to the company's operations during 2025. Mindich has faced allegations in Ukraine related to a separate corruption investigation involving the energy sector. The leaked materials also reportedly suggested connections between company activities and senior government officials.

Russia's Defense Ministry further stated that strikes were carried out against ten enterprises connected to weapons and drone production in Kyiv. The ministry also claimed that three military recruitment centers in the Ukrainian capital were hit during the operation.

The Russian claims regarding the targets and the extent of the damage could not be independently verified. Ukrainian authorities had not immediately provided detailed public comments on the specific facilities mentioned in the statement.

The latest strikes come amid continued exchanges of long-range attacks between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides regularly targeting military, industrial and strategic infrastructure linked to the ongoing conflict.
